|Milford, CT – January 1, 2007 - New Standard Institute’s president, Michael V. Brown, will be presented with an award at the Milford (CT) Chamber of Commerce 2006 Awards of Distinction Luncheon on January 31st. This will be the Chamber's 52nd Annual Meeting and Luncheon, where ten awards will be given to local businesses and individuals.
Mike Brown will receive the Milford Progress Inc. Economic Development Award for “exhibiting a commitment to the business climate and economic development of Milford”.
Brown has been based in Milford for 18 years, founding two businesses: New Standard Institute and Sage-Milford Properties.
Sage-Milford Properties bought and renovated a derelict building, prominently located in the center of Milford, financed by the Milford Bank and using a local architect and local contractors. The building now houses a variety of tenants, as well providing offices for New Standard, and has recently leased the ground floor to “Liquid Lunch”, a soup and sandwich shop.
New Standard Institute is a training and consulting firm, specializing in the maintenance of manufacturing and processing plants. New Standard funds a scholarship through the Milford Chamber of Commerce, and computer programmers from New Standard participate in Platt Tech’s Curriculum Development Committee as well as serving as test proctors at the school. Internet Marketing Manager Kerri Rowland sits on the Milford Board of Aldermen and Project Coordinator Tessa Marquis is on the Milford Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
