| Milford, CT – September 8, 2008 - New Standard Institute's interactive training program on Belts and Chain Drives teaches industrial manufacturing workers about mechanical power transmission. This course includes: how to measure sheave wear and determine proper belt tension, dismantle and inspect a gear reducer, properly size both belt and chain drives, install a drive correctly, and more. The program explains engineering concepts, as well as best maintenance practices to achieve maximum operating time for various drive systems.
New Standard's fully narrated software training is designed in an easy to use format to increase the user's knowledge, confidence level, and teach critical maintenance skills. Pop-up definitions, animations, and interactive exercises are components of the program which both engage the user and personalize the training experience.
“Our goal is to transfer knowledge to maintenance workers and managers in efficient, low-cost, accessible training programs,” says Michael V. Brown, President of New Standard. “Since repeat mechanical transmission failures are often due to improper application, installation, or maintenance, this is an important and exciting new addition to our catalog.”
Belts and Chain Drives, New Standard Institute’s latest computer based training release, joins other programs in the company's growing offerings of mechanical and electrical skills training programs. Previews of all New Standard Institute's based training programs can be downloaded from the e-learning catalog page on the company's website.
The initial release of this program is currently available exclusively through New Standard Institute's web-based delivery system. CD and Downloadable versions will be available in the near future.
